So, I actually went down to check out the Merida Open Tennis recently. Heard about it, figured why not, something different to do.

Getting There and Stuff

Didn’t really plan much, to be honest. Just decided one morning to head over. Finding the place, the Yucatan Country Club, wasn’t too bad. I drove myself. Parking was… well, it was parking. Found a spot eventually, walked a bit.

Getting in was pretty smooth. Bought a ticket right there. Wasn’t crazy expensive, which was nice. Sometimes these things cost an arm and a leg. Reminds me of that concert I wanted to go to last year, the ticket prices were just nuts, totally put me off. But this tennis thing felt more reasonable.

The Vibe and Watching

Inside, the atmosphere was pretty relaxed. Not like some super intense professional tournaments you see on TV. More like a big community event, folks just enjoying the sun and some tennis. Found a seat easily enough, wasn’t too crowded when I got there.

Watched a match for a while. Couldn’t tell you exactly who was playing, my memory for names isn’t what it used to be. But they were hitting the ball hard! That thwack sound is pretty satisfying live, you know? Different than watching it on a screen.

  • It was warm, definitely felt that Merida heat.
  • Grabbed a drink, wandered around a little between games.
  • Saw some practice courts too, players warming up.

It wasn’t some life-changing experience or anything, but it was a solid afternoon out. Just watching people who are really good at something, doing their thing. It’s impressive, the speed and coordination. Makes me feel lazy just sitting there, ha!

Heading Out

Didn’t stay for the whole day. Watched a couple of matches, soaked up the atmosphere, then decided to head back before the traffic got too bad. Getting out was easier than getting in, which is always a plus.

Overall, yeah, it was a good experience. Simple, straightforward. Just went, watched some tennis, came home. Nice to see an international event happening locally. Glad I made the effort to go check it out.
