So, I finally got around to playing a round at Champions Golf Club over in Stuart, Florida the other week. Heard some folks talking about it, figured I’d give it a shot myself. Wasn’t expecting anything too fancy, just wanted to swing the clubs somewhere local.

I tossed my bag in the car early one morning, think it was a Tuesday, hoping to beat any rush. Getting there was easy enough, found the place without any trouble. Pulled into the lot, grabbed my clubs and shoes. The clubhouse looked alright, pretty standard stuff. Walked into the pro shop to check in for my tee time. The guy behind the counter was friendly enough, got me sorted out quickly. No fuss, which is always nice.
Getting Out on the Course
Didn’t spend much time warming up, just hit a few putts on the practice green near the first tee. It seemed okay, rolled fairly true. Then it was time to head out. The starter gave me the nod and off I went.
The course itself? Well, it’s a golf course. Here’s what I noticed:
- Layout: Pretty straightforward layout, mostly. Not too many blind shots or crazy doglegs, which I appreciate sometimes. You could see where you needed to hit it.
- Conditions: It was decent. The fairways had grass, which is always a plus, right? Greens were okay, maybe a little slow that day but nothing terrible. Bunkers looked like they had sand in them, didn’t find myself in one though, luckily.
- Pace: The pace of play was actually pretty good. Didn’t feel rushed, but wasn’t waiting around forever on each shot either. Found a nice rhythm.
Played through the front nine without much drama. Made a couple of pars, couple of bogeys, the usual story for me. The back nine had a few more water hazards that made you think a bit off the tee. Remember one par 3 specifically, had to carry water almost the whole way. Always makes the heart beat a little faster, that kind of shot.
Wrapping Up the Day
Finished up the 18th hole feeling pretty decent about the round. Nothing spectacular score-wise, but it was a solid day out. Headed back towards the clubhouse. Didn’t stick around too long, just cleaned off my clubs a bit by the cart return area. Thought about grabbing a drink but decided to just head home.

Overall impression? It was a perfectly fine place to play golf. Not gonna blow your socks off like some fancy resort course, but it does the job. It felt like a real local’s course, comfortable and unpretentious. If you’re in the Stuart area and just want to get a round in without breaking the bank or dealing with crowds, it’s worth checking out. I’d probably go back again sometime when I get the itch to play.
