Alright, let me tell you about my day out at The Rawls Golf Course. Decided to finally check this place out after hearing a bit about it. Woke up, felt like a good day for golf, so I just went for it.

Got there, parked the car. Headed over to the clubhouse, pretty straightforward place. Went inside to pay the green fee and get sorted. The folks at the counter were alright, got me checked in quick enough. Grabbed a golf cart, tossed my bag on the back. Didn’t bother with a big warm-up, just took a few practice swings near the first tee to loosen up a bit. You know, just get the feel.
Hitting the Links
So, I rolled up to the first tee. Took a look down the fairway. Looked pretty open, which was nice. Took my first swing of the day. Clunk. Not great, but playable. That’s how it goes sometimes, right? Just gotta shake it off and play the next shot.
Played the first few holes. The course itself? It was in decent shape. Greens rolled okay, maybe a little quick in spots. The fairways were mostly fine. What struck me was the layout – felt pretty wide open, windswept. You really noticed the wind out there, it pushes your ball around quite a bit if you’re not careful. Had to think about club selection more than usual.
- Found a couple of bunkers. Getting out wasn’t too bad, sand was playable.
- Hit one really nice iron shot on, I think, the 5th hole? Landed it pretty close. Felt good.
- Also shanked one into the rough somewhere on the back nine. Spent a few minutes looking for that ball. Found it eventually.
It wasn’t overly crowded, which I appreciated. Kept a decent pace, didn’t feel rushed, didn’t have to wait much. Just played my game. Some holes were tougher than others, especially when playing into that wind. Had to really focus on keeping the ball low sometimes.
Wrapping Up the Day
Finished up on the 18th. Tapped in my last putt. Felt pretty good to be done, honestly. It was a solid round, nothing spectacular, but enjoyable. Drove the cart back, dropped it off where they told me. Grabbed my bag.

Didn’t hang around too long afterward. Just packed my stuff back in the car. Thought about grabbing a drink but decided to just head home. Overall, it was a decent day of golf. The Rawls course is challenging, especially with the wind. It’s a place where you gotta hit your shots. Yeah, a solid day out on the course.
