Alright, so today I’m gonna walk you through my experience messing around with the “West Ham United Training Ground” – basically, recreating it in a simulator. It was a proper challenge, but I learned a ton!
First things first: Getting My Bearings
I started by just soaking up as much info as I could find online. I watched a bunch of videos, looked at photos, even tried to find some blueprints (didn’t have much luck there, haha). I wasn’t aiming for precision here, just trying to establish the relationships between different parts of the training ground. Where’s the main building in relation to the training pitches? That sort of thing.
Diving into the Simulator
Now, the real fun began! I fired up my simulator and started laying down the basic terrain. It was all very blocky and ugly at this stage, but I was just focusing on getting the overall shape right. Think of it like sculpting – start with a big lump of clay and gradually refine it.
Building the Pitches
This was the tricky bit. I had to figure out the correct dimensions for the training pitches. I used some online tools to estimate the size based on video footage and aerial photos. Then, I carefully placed them in my simulator, trying to match the orientation and spacing I’d observed in my research. Getting the scale right was crucial!
