Okay, so, I wanted to catch the Japanese Grand Prix this year, but I was a bit confused about the timings. It’s not exactly primetime viewing where I am!

First, I grabbed my phone and started looking around. I found a bunch of different websites with info, but they were all saying slightly different things. Some talked about local time, others about GMT, and a few mentioned ET. It was a mess!
I decided to focus on the Eastern Time since that’s what I’m used to. Figured that would be the easiest.
- One source said the race was starting at 12:55 a.m. ET on ESPN. That’s super early!
- Another mentioned a 1:00 a.m. ET start time. Okay, so they’re pretty close, that’s good.
- Then I saw something about a 6:00 a.m. start time in BST. Now that’s British Summer Time. I think.
After poking around some more, I realized that the race was happening on Sunday, April 7th. That was important to know! And it was taking place at the Suzuka Circuit, which, you know, is in Japan.
I dug a bit deeper and figured out that 2:00 p.m. local time in Japan (that’s JST) is the same as 1:00 a.m. ET. So that’s the time I needed to remember.
I double-checked the TV schedule and saw that ESPN was indeed showing the race. And they were starting their coverage at midnight ET, right before the race.

The key takeaway from all this?
The Japanese Grand Prix started at 1:00 a.m. ET on Sunday, April 7th. I made a note of it, set my alarm (or rather, decided to just stay up late), and got ready for some early morning racing!
Oh, and I also read that Max Verstappen won the race. He’s on a roll! Seems like he’s the guy to beat after that Australian Grand Prix retirement.
Anyways, it was a bit of a headache figuring out the timings, but I managed to get it sorted. Hope this helps anyone else who was confused!
